Baxi Potterton Actuator Motor 248733 with Cartridge 720003100

Product Overview

The Baxi Potterton Actuator Motor 248733 with Cartridge 720003100 is a diverter valve replacement kit designed for use within selected Baxi and Potterton heating systems.

The actuator motor operates the diverter valve mechanism, while the cartridge is the internal valve component responsible for directing the flow of heated water between the central heating circuit and domestic hot water circuit. Together, these components help the boiler switch correctly between heating and hot water operation.

Technical Insight & Common Failure Symptoms

The diverter valve assembly plays an important role in combination boilers by controlling where heated water is sent depending on the user's demand. The actuator motor moves the valve position, while the cartridge controls the internal water flow path.

Over time, the actuator motor or cartridge may experience wear, sticking, scaling, or internal damage, affecting boiler performance.

Typical symptoms linked to a faulty actuator motor or diverter valve cartridge include:

• No hot water while central heating works normally
• Central heating operating when only hot water is requested
• Slow or inconsistent hot water performance
• Diverter valve sticking or failing to move correctly
• Boiler making unusual noises from the hydraulic section
• Intermittent heating or hot water operation

Replacing the actuator motor and cartridge together may help restore correct diverter valve operation and reliable boiler performance.
